Has anyone read this book?

The longer I fish, the more I realize what we see happening at the surface or subsurface may be the best clue to where and when to fish.

I have heard that this book is fairly good re the analyzing of water surface for fish. Also, I heard that a large part of it is a vehicle to reprint over 30 of Steve's essays about fishing, and I'm not really interested in buying some one's old essay's on fishing.

Another new book is "Cannibal Trout", while this probably won't appeal to the Holy Buggers, it may give great insight to the flesh and other fish eating side of trout, and the really big ones. Has anyone read it?

Whats the problem with reading old essays if you never read them before. As to the surface;I have his book on Cutthroat in the salt.He fished mostly with surface flies so as to compile data on fish movement vs the tides and time s of year, etc. He knows the surface!EXCELLENT AMOUNT OF DATA!IT REALLY HELPED ME IN THE SALT.IT ALSO CONVINCED ME TO USE SKATTERS.I had a day from the beach at pt no pt with no one else around on high tide in the evening when I must have had a 100 takes from immature Chinnies .all on steelhead caddis skatted.Had multiple fish chasing most of the time.Never would have tried without reading his work.Beau

Too many writers re wrap their old work with an interesting chapter or two with a new title to sell a book. Fishing mags do this all the time with a great cover and maybe one good article and a lot of old stuff reprinted or buffed up. This happens with financial writers, business writers and other area writers.

Your comments makes this sounds like the content re nervous water is worth the purchase price.

Thanks

I agree...I have just about every Steve Raymond book he has ever written and I have always found them to be a good read and well worth the money. I haven't read "Nervous Water" but would like to very soon. The fact is Steve Raymond knows how to write..plain and simple he has the gift to write unlike many magazine "writers."
