Will call old florida tomorrow but am curious if anyone on the forum knows how to remove the 12s spool. It is not the same mechanism as the smaller reels.

Am not seeing an easy way and do not want to damage the reel....

What use for the billfish reel?

Sorry I do not have a quick answer to your question, but It got me wondering how a speyfisher would use 13 weight + 450 Yd 30 # capacity. That would be a long line reel.

Mainly a capacity issue. This reel will hold any line made and at least 200 yards of backing if not more. Plus it is still fairly light at only 10.5 ounces so I could see hanging it off an 11 or 12 weight for tarpon or using it for billfish one day.

Good price as well, now we will have to see how the drag holds up but I have heard good things so I am not too worried.

Have not seen a 14s but that sucker must be huge!
