Been a little while since I spun anything up, but this is a pattern Ive tied lots of before... I also like them in purple or fall caddis colors, but I dig this black and copper/rust color combo too (kinda reminds me of a bee a little bit.) I don't like to use floatant on the fly itself, but prefer Loon Payette Paste for greasing up the leader. Add a riffle hitch and its my confidence summer/fall fly!

Tag: Copper wire.
Tail: Root beer Krystal flash.
Body: Gold mylar wrapped with copper wire.
Wing: Copper Ripple Ice, Rust deer hair (not spun, ends trimmed flush), Lady Amherst, Jungle Cock nails (slightly veiling deer hair wing.)
Head: Black deer hair (spun and ends trimmed bushy.)

I'm into it! Just let me know. I had to cancel a trip to B.C. so you might find me posted up on the Deschutes here shortly with the toys chasing canyon shade and avoiding rattlesnakes. Prob done with that river down South until we get some colder nights and fish less stagnant. Also, doubt I'll make it on the eastern Columbia tribs this fall but you never know...

Very nice Mr. Booth! Those look like very effective patterns.

Nate
Thanks Nate!

Oh...my...

There goes my jaw hitting the gravel bar
I'll trade ya! Got these in size 5's and 7's Black/Copper, Purple/Tan, Orange/Rust...
Normally I don't put much if any flash in my flies, but I kinda like the Krystal Flash and Ripple Ice in this rendition of the Muddler.

Wow. Awesome tie. Those shouldnt be muddy bees but killer bees.
Ha! I try to befriend the bee's, keeping plenty of flowers around the house for them to enjoy as a truce exchange for not stinging me...

These are outstanding :smokin::smokin:

Thank you Mike!

After seeing these last night I had to try one.
I like that muddler too! Cheers!

Oooooo, PURPLE !! :whoa::whoa:

This pattern will be in my box for fall salar fishing !! I am determined to have a salmon take a muddler style fly from me :D
Between Keith's Manic Muddler and this pattern, I think I have a good chance at reaching that goal this year !!

Really nice flies Cody. Great job! I’m sure you could skate these or ride them under surface with a sinking poly.....both methods would prove very effective. I think that’s why I love muddlers so much, there is really no wrong way to fish them!! Skating, swinging, dead drifting, popping on the surface (caught a pike this year popping a little muddler tube!)
