Well, the title says it all. The Mahoney is by far one of my favorite patterns, and some of my first hackle tip flies were Mahoney inspired. And this reversed pattern has been haunting me in these last few weeks, and even though I have been busy and not have had the time to tie, the pattern remained up front in my imagination. In the mean time I have received some blue heron spey hooks as many here recommended it. I think it is a very elegant hook with a plus which is the tapered wire that makes the eye bend much more inconspicuous when tying. So I had a new classic pattern and a fine hook to play with. So now, this friday I have had some time to play with the vise, and I could let go of the reversed Mahoney like this:

So I need to tie maybe a small handful of flies more to have a full box to waste at the coast and rivers - Next one will be a Corniehaugh ;-)
