I am just wondering if I am the only person having a time finding good quality marabou. Wow, I buy packages of it and end up having maybe 6 pieces that are decent quality to wrap. Even the UV stuff is poor I have found. With the price I had guessed that maybe they at least had tried to select good material in the first place. So, I am whining about feathers I guess. Anyone had good luck with a particular brand?

It's not just you. I've also had some trouble getting quality Marabou, though by lowering my standards a bit I've found that I can work with a good chunk of what I've been getting. Far from ideal though. I've purchased some good bags here and there from various sources, including Poppy, but I just haven't found any particular brand to be of consistent quality.
I'm also eager to hear if anyone has a better source

It's not just you and its not just bou. Packages of schlappen are bad too. And burnt spey hackle often only has a few useable feathers it is amazing how much of it is super short or brittle and over burnt. I actually bought some of my own roosters and some turkeys to raise and see how i do for feathers.

I guess it depends on what you are looking for. I mean - this is just a sample of ordinary Hareline Dubbing brand strung blood-quill where 90% of the quills are of the same size and quality:

Terrible shot - but - the quills have approximately two inches of useable feather with barbs long enough for up to a 3/0 fly! Marabou dresses down nicely and I get 4-6 wraps without over doing it depending on whether it is tied-in by the tip or by the stem. When it's strung marabou it really doesn't make much difference but you can open each pack to select the best one.

I like the the Jay Fair brand as the tips are very high quality, though the stems get thick quickly so if you're wrapping you only get a few wraps. Spirit River has always been my go to. The Hareline Blood Quills aren't bad either.
