Scanning through the Veverka book this pattern just screamed at me. I left the teal sides off because I don't have quality feathers, I also really struggle with woody or teal sides so I don't think it looks nice. Now the big downfall for this fly is when I went to trim the wing butts I knicked my wing and cut half of it off :chuckle: I think it still came out OKAY though, we'll see what the fish think!

Sorry about the wing thing there, Josh!

Still looks great, though, and I'm guessing the fish will enjoy it!

If not, I'm sure Wayne will take it home with him!!!:hihi:

All the best of luck to you both in March, by the way!

A very honest critique of sorts by the tyer himself....that's cool. Sucks about the wings, but those things happen. That body work is something !

Looking good. And as Jin said, all of us make mistakes every now-and-then. Don't worry about not having the teal in the side. I'd fish it with confidence. And as you are finding out, the more you work on tying these, the more you pick out things you'd do differently or that you don't like. That is the mark of a tyer on his/her way to becoming a master of the art.
