The 8twelve reel and 9thirteen reel are listed as having the exact same dimensions yet the 9thirteen is listed as having more capacity. Can anyone with experience with the two reels comment on the difference in capacity or lack thereof.

I think the 9thirteen has a deeper spool.

Hello—

I do have almost all Evotec Reels including the two you have asked about.
I would completely ignore the officially reported differences in capacity of the 8-12 and the 9-13.
LW 8-12 is only 1mm ( 3/64”) smaller then DH 9-13 and has essentially the same capacity as HD9-13.
You can reel in a line and backing from one to the another and will see very little difference in the extra space between the spey line and the reel frame.

Thanks Salmo you are pretty much confirming what I suspected about the two reels. I looked back at your old post prior to this one and although it veered me towards the 11fourteen for bigger lines I was just trying to figure out how much (if any) difference there was in the capacity of these two reels.
