Hi,

I picked up a Loop Multi 07120 and was recommended to use a 525g Skagit short. Had problems casting consistently and almost felt like the line was too light? Anybody have a similar issue or try a heavier head? 550g or more?

Any advice? I saw an earlier post from a few years back that it could be a line+tip/leader length issue as well?

I just sold my 7120. For Skagit lines, I really liked a Skagit compact 510 on it. When I was starting out casting, I used 15 ft tips and found them very difficult to cast (Hard to lift off the water). Cut them back to 12 ft, or use a medium mow tip, and you should be golden.

I also loved a rio AFS 6/7 on that rod.

For me, it took a while to get used to the rod (I was a rank beginner then), but once I did, I loved it.
