Spent some time with Riveraddict and kush messing about with rods and lines for Skagit Casting and studying the method. With all the renewed interest in shooting head systems I thought it might be fun to try out the Skagit Casting concepts (sustained anchor and continuous rod loading along with the heavy barbell-eyed flies) with the head systems originally designed for Underhand casting. Works just fine! Using the Adapted Intermediate Sink Tip head system with the super fast sinking line tip off the end and a big Intruder-style tube fly, fishing casts of 80ft+ were possible and with excellent line control. Great fun to discover that the classic shooting head systems used for years in Scandinavia adapt very well to the Skagit casting style.
