Hi,

I have recently acquired a Loomis Slate IMX 13' blank and Loomis have kindly sent me the following guide spacings.

5 - 11 1/2 - 20 - 30 3/4 - 43 3/4 - 59 - 76 - 94 1/2 - 115

There seem to be very few guides for the length of rod. I was wondering if anyone on the forum has built this rod or similar and if they successfully used these specs (or if they have better).

Hi, I have the original G.Loomis IMX 13' , factory built, and my rod is fitted with 2 drags, 9 snakes and the top eye.
From what I gather, the Slate IMX 13' blank is the very same as Loomis used back in the day when the IMX was their "top dog". -So i think 9 guides all in all may be to few. However, the guide spacings listed in you're post seems to be right for that few guides.
These are the mesurements on my rod (from top);

4 1/8 - 9 3/4 - 17 - 25 3/4 - 35 3/4 - 46 1/2 - 58 1/4 - 71 1/4 - 85 1/2 -

100 1/2 - 116 3/4

All the fig's are approx. since I had to calculate them over from metric. :Eyecrazy: -But they are within the 1/4 of an inch.
Hope this helps.
