New to spey casting. Just purchased scott 12'8" 7wt. spey and need advice on line. Would like multi purpose line good for all seasons/conditions. Cold weather suitability a must. Casting distances are under 50 feet. My home river (salmon river/Gr. lakes) is generally fast flowing, depths range from 2 to 10 feet with a very rocky (multi snag) bottom. What do you recommend for a beginner?

Also anyone know where I can get spey casting instruction in this area?

Thanks!

I have this rod and love it. For a multi purpose line for short casts I wold think the Rio WindCutter of Airflo Delta both available in multi-tips would be your best option. Probably go with 7/8 wt.

I prefer longer lines and have the Airflo long Delta (not available in multi-tip but you can make your own.) The ultimate long line is tHE new SA XLT 7/8. Thsi is a truly wonderful line on this rod.

Not sure about classes but would highly recommend getting both the Rio International and Master Spey videos and study them over and over - carefully watching the casters hand movements
