Hi.

I was wondering what kind of connections do you people use between shootingheads and running/shootinglines or in some other place in your lines?

I personally use the following (from front to back):
1. Tippet end surgeon loop to head's dacron core loop*.
2. Head back end dacron core loop to dacron (backing) loop**.
3. Dacron loop to shooting line loop***.
4. Shootingline loop to spectra backing loop.

*The core is drawn inside itself. Doesn't need glue to hold but I use anyway. Technique is much like in here but not quite.
** Dacron loop big enough to go over my reel and line spools for fast and easy head change.
***The end of the sawada flat beam is turned back and glued on itself for about inch's length with fishin' glue(water resistant and flexible). Then the glued part is covered with flytying thread and finished with the fishin' glue or Aquasure.

I normally use amnesia as my running line with shooting heads. I have been known to use bimini's in the amnesia to connect to monocore loops on my heads but as often as not I will just use a 4 or 5 turn clinch knot in the amnesia tied to the loop - I have pulled on some large kings down in tide water and never had this knot fail. However, an improved clinch with amnesia does not hold well.
