Seem to be getting a severe left hook, like a curve cast, @ the end of my cast. Tend to think I might be pulling or pushing my lower hand to the right @ the end of my snap. Info on causes & cures would be much appreciated.

wildgene...

...assuming you're a righthander, you're not keeping your rod in a plane but bringing the rod tip back behind you on the backcast when forming your "D" loop. Watch your bottom hand to see that it stays inside, or directly below, the upper hand.

Follow the Tip

Gene

Remember that the line follows the path of the rod tip. To get a left hook with the line, you also had a left hook with the tip of the rod. You need to keep the tip traveling in a plane.

snap

Gene, you mention "snap." If you are casting somewhat sidearm another possibility is that you are overpowering the cast, which would also cause it to curve around on you. How long is your leader?
