I am curious to know if anybody out there is using Arthur Wood's cairnton knot. I have always used turles on my speys and featherwings as the line through the eye gives them a better balance in the water but have never been happy with knot strength when going to fine tippet. Also the turle is a pretty ugly knot. I have just started to use the cairnton and double cairnton for fine tippet and it appears to have good knot strength and is a nice neat looking knot. If anyone has experienced any problems with this knot it would be nice to hear about it before it possibly costs me a really good fish. Thanks

I'm not familiar with this knot and can't find it in any of my books. Where can I find it?

You can find it in "Greased Line Fishing for Salmon (and Steelhead) " By Jock Scott and also in a couple of other older books by Ashley Cooper and Ogelsby.
