Took Domantas' advice and tried a LC on a Dave McNeese Heron. Head needs a little work.

Now that's a sweet wing set. Great work.

Yikes!!!
Don't know what the hackle is but - it's the nicest, most wanton.
Only thing I'd do different would be to pull the tail further in by one-half fraction...

The Head

I have come to find that I will never like the heads on any of my flies no matter how compact I can get them :chuckle::Eyecrazy:. Don't worry your head & fly looks awesome!

What size?

Thanks very much for the kind words. Helps to have those in mind when the bronze mallard is fighting back.

FishOn--you confirmed my instincts about that tail. I thought it was a touch long too. And the red hackle (dyed pheasant) is maybe a little to bright for the traditional look, but I couldn't find a red golden pheasant hackle that was long enough for the BEP.

Rmacneil--it's a size 2 Blue Heron.

Hm... I wouldn't even know that wasn't golden pheasant... pick up a full skin, you'll need it. I actually like that extra red in there...

Looks like a little mini-dome stadium under that wing set, big screen included:smokin:

Phenomenal.

Lovely! My favorite Spey fly, but yours looks much nicer than any I tie.
