When throwing bombers and waking flies does knotted or knotless leaders make a difference? Does one turn over any better than the other? Thanks, Rob

Rob,
There will be some members disagree on this but a lot of guys just use 6-8' of 12lb Ultragreen Maxima. It's what I have done last 20 years and work just fine casting for me at least..

I've tied and used many different tapered leaders, but have little experience with single-diameter leaders of much length. So we'll wait to hear from those who know level leaders.

Leaders designed in the spirit of the famous 60/20/20% formula almost always work. And this includes simplified tapered leaders of just two or three sections. It's so easy to whip up a simple tapered leader and get one that performs better than a level leader. For one thing, you can use a perfection loop at the butt end with assurance that it won't break while the tippet knot to the fly holds!
