I've got an opportunity to pick up one at a good price. Can anyone comment its action? Where does it fit, action-wise? Loomis claims it's a "Euro". Is it that quick? How is it with heads/Skagit style? Thanks for any help.
Carl
Carl,
I picked my GL3 up as a clearance outfit several years ago, only have really learned it's capabilities in the last three years.
I consider it to be a slower action than the Euros that have come on the market in the last two years.
It will throw type 3 and 6 tips all day, and handles Windcutter and Midspey quite nicely. Also has plenty of backbone for the fish I have tangled with, up to 12 pounds, so far.
The rod will throw weighted flies, and tubes with no noticable difference.
Best of luck, Bob
