Did this three times in the vise, stripped it three times, decided to do it in hand to slow it down. Much better, an orange schlappen dyed jet black makes a "vintage" looking hackle.

Pure sweetness and very buggy. Never tied an entire fly in-hand: Took one simple pattern off the vise momentarily just to "see".... and my fingers cramped-up something fierce. Well done!
What are you using for gut loop?
Good job !!
Wait until you get those coque feathers and then tie one of these bad boys up .
The black with the green sheen will blow your mind with this pattern :smokin:
John had sent me some coque feathers with gold sheen and some with purple sheen , all natural of course ... incredible stuff !!

Fish this Culdrain and guaranteed you'll see it chewed .

Ancient Chinese secret.....

Twisted nylon extra duty upholstery thread, hot tea batch for the stain, perfection looped on both ends, roto dub spun, stretched, waxed to holy hell, stretched again, waxed again and let to sit for a while. The wax keeps it from unwinding. I dead weight tested it at 25# no problems, 30# it breaks at the knots, I'm estimating a 35-40# in loop to loop connections.

Its a pain, but I tie a more symmetrical fly this way, can't explain it, the wings come out better for me as my vise usually gets in the way. I don't do it for long periods cause yes the hand will cramp.

I have natural red coming first, I'm going to do all the Knox with the red first. I'm waiting to see what this supplier has to offer before ordering any more
