McNeese hooks are beauties for sure. AJ's are a nice hook with a great bend too. The Partridge bartleets were the old tried and true for years, but the point and barb are pure ugly.

But, regardless of the hook I use as a platform, I will try to style the fly to fit the hook. Look at glasso's flies tied on the old Sealy low water hooks....

I'm in complete agreement with Aaron on hooks and that one should always size the fly to the hook being tied upon. To answer your other question on sizes for spey flies, the smallest hook I use is the Alec Jackson Spey Hook #5, and the largest is the McNeese Blue Heron #2. Keep in mind that Glasso tied his spey flies on #1/0 low-water Sealy down to #2 low-water Sealy hooks with a #1 used most of the time and I find the Alec Jackson #3 to be very close in shank length to the old Sealy low-water #1.
