Whats the story in the area of Homer Alaska????? I was just told some friends of my parents bought a place on the Kenai outside of Homer. Looking for Trout and Salmon in the river. Halibut and ocean fishing aren't really my thing

Hi Jamey,

Homer is a ten min. drive from the Anchor River which has runs of Kings, Silvers, steelhead and dollies. It is a small river so you will not need a two handed rod.

There are also other waters in the area worth a scout mission.

Cheers,

Greg

steelhead in anchor river

Jamey,

Best time for steelhead on Anchor River is late September, early October. Weather can be great or lousy that time of year.

Dollies will also be present at that time.

" On the Kenai, outside of Homer"

First, I would find out how many hours outside of Homer. It is a big place. I once hitchhiked from Anchorage to Homer to catch the ferry to Kodiak.

It is a wild and beautiful place, and I would recommend it to anyone, regardless of the fishing.

Hey Jay,

On the pennisula, right out side of town, I know the way I typed it sounded a bit off kilter.
