Many avid Spey Clavers are familiar with Henrik Mortensen through Dana Sturn's extensive Spey Pages interview with Henrik on the Underhand technique. Dana also included a short video clip of Henrik making the Underhand cast look pretty easy.

Henrik Mortensen has recently released a DVD entitled "The Perfect Cast." The DVD clearly explains and demonstrates the techniques of the Underhand cast for both two-handed rods and single-handed rods; it also illustrates some of the many advantages of the technique through several live-action fishing sequences. Filmed entirely on several Atlantic salmon rivers in Iceland, these sequences--especially some of the aggressive takes on a hitched fly--are some of the best ever captured on film.

Whether you are an aspiring Underhand caster or not, you will find "The Perfect Cast" to be highly informative and very entertaining. As Simon Gawesworth says of the Underhand cast in his recently released book, "if you are a true Spey disciple, you need to know it."

"The Perfect Cast" is available (at this writing) from the following Forum Sponsors:

UK supplier

For those in the UK I thought I might just add that my copy has just arrived at my local tackle dealer, after about six weeks waiting :hihi: . I read about the DVD about three months ago on this forum while trying to research underhand casting, but was struggling to get a copy and thought I was going to have to order it direct from Iceland (which is where it seems to have originated). Anyway my local dealer has got it via Svendsen Sports if anyone is interested. Now that Henrik is with working with Scierra, he has also released a DVD called "Distance and Delicacy". which I will also buy if this one is as good as it is supposed to be.
