That'll work but personally I have more reels than rods, so it's cheaper for me to get the rods modified. That way I can shop for vintage reels to my hearts content and never have to think about sending them anywhere or getting more feet made.

Contact Royal Treatment Fly Shop in West Linn Oregon. They collect old Hardy's and may be willing to buy, give credit or trade from something that fits. Do Not alter the reel as that will destroy the value.

I have redone previously modified feet. One significant issue with long foot ribbed brass is how thick it is. I would highly recommend getting a new foot made or getting your rod handle modified. Once you cut a reel foot you can never go back. It's obviously your choice as it is your reel.
