Backeddie: it is a ported spool so lighter than the solid spool. It is a big reel at 4" diameter. Would balance a heavy switch (7-8, 8-9, 9-10) Probably overkill for a light switch (or spey).
duckil: the MarkVI is the predessor to the current Mark VII. Both are currently on the Hardy website.
Probably others on this site have more info on this?
In addition to what Jim said above, MK VI was the last English made model. MK VII Bougles are made in Korea. The MK VII reels are not generally considered as desirable as the English made reels. Don't understand it as I think the quality of the Korean made reel is as good as the English made but there is a stigma. MK VII reels are very similar to the MK IV reels.
Not to detract from the seller's original posting, but on the Classic Reels forum they go into more in depth discussions on the different versions of Hardy Bougles. However, only a limited amount of Mark VI reels were made in England. Once those were sold out the remainder of Hardy Bougle Mark VI reels were made in Korea.
