I just fished the Klamath River for the last three days. I drifted from Gordon's Ferry to the Klamath River Inn. The mornings were beautiful and mystic on the water.

I swung flies the whole time. I think the largest fish I caught were maybe 12-13" No adults for me. I'm still in search of my first adult steelhead on the swing. I swung a muddler and Brett's Klamath Intruder the whole time. I had a great time with my trout spey. Man that muddler minnow is a great fly...

The way a couple pulls made my click/pawl sing, you would have thought they were much bigger fish...:grin2:

Definitely some good practice leading up to the winter season. I'm trying to get rid of my dreaded trout hook set...

I’ll be there next week, and in about the same area. It can be really nice there right now, and if you are lucky you can get kings,half-pounders, and the early Steelhead (not to mention local trout) all on the same day. We had a few days like that 3 or 4 years ago first week in Oct.

Oh nice! good luck. Please post when you get back. Some of the people staying at the inn fished in Orleans (bouncing roe...) and caught 3 kings. On my way up 96 today, I stopped at Tree of Heaven and saw a gear guy catch a salmon there. Right in front of the Klamath River Inn in Happy Camp, I saw 2 hook ups on decent fish. I assume decent as I saw the guides jumped out of the boats, nets in hand - they were bobber fishing. I swung Green Riffle one evening with one half-pounder. I don't think I ever found a pod of fish and the action was just one here, one there through the day. The folks at the Klamath River Inn said the fishing has been really good this year.
