I am becoming more and more enamored with these kind of sleek, sexy, hackle-less, throated, tinsel-bodied flies. Tied up a couple this weekend.

The Nighthawk is a pattern I find especially graceful. I love the blue throat!

Beautiful job, gt.

Lovely Nighthawk, Gary. One of my favorites.

I just recently discovered that it was developed on this side of the pond. Always thought it to be an import.

Thanks,

Gary,

Nice job! The Nighthawk is swinging downstream and ready to be taken. Your use of the map for a background is very fitting for your favorite river.

The blue cheek is stunning. What feather did you use?

Thank you all for the good words! Doug, the feather in question is supposed to be kingfisher. In all the goodies I have around here...nada kingfisher. So I subbed Whiting American hen cape dyed kingfisher blue. Doubt the fishies will care, lol.

I like this HW a lot, Garry.

Not a fly I have tied myself yet, but with it's colours, it just has universal appeal. I can see a few imitations rolling off my vice real soon.

Is the wing Russian black squirrel (I have some ;)) or something else?
