I spoke to Bob Braendle two days ago. He said it was still happening.
He was going to talk to Glen, then start to promote it.

Friday Before

I would like to offer a two handed get together for those who would like to try two handed rod and Line brands not often found in the Great Lakes. This is not a sponsered event as this is my private collection. This is not to say these brands are superior than other brands, I just like to collect things that are not often found around my location. You can come out and try my lines on your rods or mine. I will have several reels already loaded and if we need to change lines, my system allows me to change lines very easy. I encourage anyone new or have been around awhile to come out and enjoy the two handed casting fun. I'm by no means a two handed instructor but I can show you what I've learned from friends that have paved the way. I would like to meet the Friday 9/27/2019 8am till? This will be before the GREAT LAKES SPEY FEST which will be on Saturday 9/28/2019.
Here is a list of Rods and Lines that will be available.

The Spey Fest line up so far is,

Kevin Feenstra
Trout and Smallmouth bass fishing with a Two handed rod.
Kevin is a well known Muskegon river guide, originator of many fish producing fly patterns and techniques.

Gary Kalinka, AKA, Voodoofly on this forum.
Long Rods, Long lines and Long casts.
SOR competitor and well known local Spey steelhead fisherman.

Jimmy Chang,
Bamboo and Graphite rod comparison and application in regards to Spey casting.
Jimmy Chang has built some wonderful bamboo Spey rods, light in hand and a delight to cast.

The Event will kick off about 09.30 AM but people start turning up earlier just to meet old friends and see whats new in the Spey world.

Fyi

For those who have never been to Henning Park, it is on the bank of the Muskegon River. It is a Newaygo County Park with boat launch, Camp ground and lots of room to cast. It is a wide open and a great spot to host this type of venue. I will be staying on site #9 Thursday til Sunday so stop buy.

Kevin is one of the best guides I know with a super amount of knowledge and patience.

Gary is the reason I got into the longer line stuff and introduced me to Nextcast Lines.

Jimmy is a great caster with so much understanding on rod and line dynamics.

Can't wait this will be a fun event.

Thanks to Great Lakes Flyfishing Company for hosting this event each year.
Hope to see you there.

I just got an email from Great Lake Fly Fishing who is the Organizer/Sponsor of Spey Fest. The event has been cancelled due to issues with the park restrooms and water supply.

Bill unfortunately you are correct. However, there are quite a few of us meeting Friday to cast and have some fun. We will also be there Saturday with quite a few rods and lines. If anyone needs help with casting or setup there will be enough of us around to help.
