With appoligies to a couple of you (doing this on the office lap top) Blank In The Brain on a couple of your Board names.

Steve: The 8/9 and 10/11 are in an Airborne bag to you now. I'll be running the 9/10 through its "paces" this afternoon and tomorrow morning. Third line out to you this week.

apologies in advance to all. I leave town this Monday for one week and won't have an opportunity to cast the lines until I return. This will delay things a bit, but I'll move fast on them once I get back.

Nuts! I pay for 'over night deliver' and, and, and !1

you won't be there.

Actually, found the Airborne guys did not pick up the lines on Thursday (missed your bag at the Bank) so dumped (that sounds ugly .. sorry!) back into one of their pick up boxes this afternoon.

One way or the other they will be awaiting you when you get home. So!!, now you have an iron clad excuse as to why you have to go the river this coming weekend. I could even make this one stick with the "JoanMeister." .... What is it with Redheaded wo.... never mind I don't think I could handle the answer.

Finished "field testing" the 9/10 line this morning. All three now have been "pre-stretched" by Mr. Steelhead. No virgin's leaving Southern Oregon.

You Clowns are trying to work me to death! :>)

Now just because I've hooked/landed fish on all three lines doesn't give you the latitude to keep changing you orders at the drive up window.

Having said that: before you forward on the line(s) be sure to check the distribution list top-side. It will change a bit over time on "who wants what."

returned home and had a brief chance to try out the lines, but wound up trying out only one of them. I started with the 8/9 on my Sage 8150-4. Beyond 60-70' the rod was too overloaded, but it did have really nice turnover and handling up to that point.

I then tried the 8/9 line on my Sage 9140-3, which was a nice match. Liked it so much that I didn't bother to try the 9/10 on this rod. Wish that I could have given it the workout that Fred did, fish included.

I hope that RIO will market a 7/8 in this line to match the 8150. I like everything about the line, feel, turnover, super mendable, etc. Otherwise will get a SA 7/8 (when it is offered in Green) to match the 8150 and cut off some of that long front taper to get the positive turnover that I like to much about the RIO

The lines will get packaged up tonite and off to David Marston tomorrow. Thanks again to Simon for the opportunity, rating sheet on its way.

I'm bringing this back to the top - hopefully we can track down the RIO spey lines. I sent the lines to David Marston on Nov 25, and I've got a delivery confirmation receipt in case they never got there. Can someone please chime in if the lines have moved on?

I sent the lines to "Nevada Caster" about mid-Dec. I never did use the lines unfortunately. My green 9140-4 was at Sage being fixed. It took longer than I thought it would so I finally sent the lines on. (Sage ended up replacing my early green 9140-4 with the newer caramel colored 9140-4 because they couldn't get the guide spacing right. Thanks Sage!)

Keep talking guys! Some folks wanted some lines, some wanted all.

Chime in on whose got what and where ... and when they'll be passed along. Simon was kind enough to allow us to 'field test' his new goodies; we need to be 'kind enough' to comply with his simple wish.

Bottom line is we perform ... or this is not likely to happen again.

fredaevans re Grand Spey test lines

Were all of the lines sent to one fisher, and they are somewhere in his SUV or den collecting dust?

If so this was a concern of mine and why I made two suggestions.

1. If an individual like me only wanted to test one line, just ship me one line. Why send me lines that I wouldn't test nor wanted to test. If I got the holy set, it had to wait until I tested the one line and then sent the holy set to the next guy.

Some people over reacted and seem to feel that the lines were a sgined and numbered Holy Set that only God or Jim Vincent could separate. So they wanted the Holy Set passed around as a complete Holy Set.

2. If we liked the line or lines, we kept that line or lines and bought a replacement/s from FlyFishUsa and had the replacement/s sent to the next guy on the list. FFU would have had the new line to the next guy in a day or two. FFU ships stuff everyday, and knows how to do it right. Most of us have no pickup or a convenient parcel delivery service.

Again people didn't want to violate the sacred and holy set of Grand Speys. So this buy the testor and have FFU ship the replacement was shouted down.

End result is that most of us have not seen the lines and it could be spring/summer before we do.

The good news is the sacred set of numbered and signed Grand Speys are probably together somewhere gathering dust, but they still are one holy complete set whereever they are.

Hey guys
I just received all 3 lines today - 8/9, 9/10 and 10/11 although I only requested the first 2. The ice floating down the river looks like it's subsiding a bit. Perhaps this weekend I'll be able to get through the knee deep snow to get to the river and give 8/9 and 9/10 a try. Speyrd, I'm not going to try the 10/11 . . . do you want me to send you that one before the others?

Hi all
Weather here has just been too brutal to test these lines, so I'm sending all lines on to "speyrd". Fred, as you seem to be the keeper of the list I'd still appreciate an opportunity to test these lines — especially the 8/9 and 9/10. Perhaps you could put me back on the list for a later date.

Hey Fred,

You might just as well send all three lines to me instead of just the 8/9. Looks like I'll have a rod to try the other lines out on. My turn around time should be one weekend on the lines. Thanks,
Jims in Fresno
