A quick mid-season update on Gaspe salmon fishing.

Fishing conditions (water levels and temperatures) are great and have been so most of the season. We have also had great runs of Atlantic Salmon (and sea-run brook trout) thus far. We fish 8 rivers near the tip of the peninsula so I am speaking specifically about these waters and not necessarily about the other rivers on the peninsula. I have heard mixed results for various other rivers (water levels, temps, and runs).

At this point our water levels are normal for this time of year and most salmon are being caught on dries. We had 7 clients land 6 salmon today; all on dry flies. Sight casting dry flies to salmon up to 40lbs is what makes the Gaspe special.

If you have questions on ANY Gaspe river or would like periodic updates just send me a pm and I will be happy to gather and share any info.

Tightlines,
