Here's a pretty interesting Perfect. This is a Jimmy Smith-built 3 3/4" Perfect built during the war years. Once upon a time, it had been ridden hard and put up wet and was the worse for it. But the previous owner had the right sense to send the reel off to John Mackenzie for a full restoration. While John was doing his magic, he discovered behind the checkwork the remnants of the black wartime paint that Hardy used. So this reel was restored with the finish that it was originally born with.

The original 1940's paint sucked, and the paint that's on it - being an authentic restoration - also sucks. It has chipped in some high wear areas, and will continue to wear and gain character the more the reel is used. See pics.

Besides the paint, this is about as tight as a 70+ year old Hardy is going to get. Mechanically, it's as-new. The only real mark on it cosmetically (other than the paint) is the spool retaining screw is a little marred up. Just a little. Everything else is correct, tight, and smooth.

Here are the pics. I'll throw in the reproduction pokey bag, but the silk DT is staying with me. Price includes insured shipping to US and Canada. PAYPAL only. $750
