Hello All,
I have fine vintage 4" Hardy Uniqua wide drum fly reel for sale. This is a 1930's reel with a telephone style spool latch, fat Ebonite handle and ribbed brass foot (3" long). It has a Duplicated Mark II check with a spare spring & pawl currently set up or right hand retrieve. The spare spring & pawl are located where they can be engaged. Or, the pawls can be flipped and the reel used for left hand retrieve.
The back plate is stamped MADE BY HARDY BROS LTD ALNWICK ENGLAND SIZE 4" THE "UNIQUA" FLY REEL PAT NOS 24245 & 9261 DUPLICATED MARK II. The check plate is stamped with Tommy Armstrong's mark (TAG) and both the check plate and spool show the number 4 - it appears that the reel is entirely original.
The reel has obviously seen very little use. The spool spins well - there is no wobble on end play. There are no chips or cracks. There are no line grooves. The check works as it should. The foot is full length and straight - I do see just a very slight a hint of filing at ends of the foot but only on the top.
I'm asking $475 for the reel including postage to the lower 48. PayPal only please and I'll pay their fees. Offers considered but not looking for trades.
