The Scott Internal Ferrule plays a fundamental role in the design of ARC double-handed rods. A pure flex curve is absolutely critical to the function of a Spey rod, because the nature of Spey casting requires the rod to flex consistently well into the butt section. Our internal ferrule flexes with the rest of the rod. We create these hollow tubes by rolling graphite on a steel mandrel, selecting materials and a taper pattern according to the qualities of the rod blank in which the ferrule is to be inserted. The ferrule fits inside of the adjoining blank parts. This allows us to maintain the diameter and taper of the blank from tip to butt. The result: a flex profile with no flat spots, and a rod that Spey casts more efficiently.
