It's with regret that I put up for sale my Meiser 15' Highlander Classic 789, customised by Bob.

When I first spoke to Bob about this in late 2011 I was about to go on my first BC steelhead trip the following year, and I wanted a rod that I could use for both the steelhead there and salmon at home. Bob advised me that I didn't need a 15' for the rivers I had intended, but I wanted an all rounder for which I could also use on the big rivers of the north at home.
As it turns out, it was too big for the steelhead river I fished, and I have gravitated towards the smaller/medium sized salmon rivers of England and Europe.
As it has gotten very little use and will not much in the foreseeable future, and added to the fact that I have in the meantime, become an obsessed fan of James Reid's bamboos, I therefore put it up for reluctant sale.

It features heavy duty dark nickel silver seat, Oregon Black Oak burled spacer, cork lower grip, fine black ring accents instead of the usual thick black rings, Autumn wrap and colour theme. The rod has my name on it but it could be removed by Bob or a good builder.

Rod has only been used for a couple of practice sessions on the Thames at Richmond.

Price: $680 plus shipping from the UK (we can work something out here for those in US/CAN). It's a steal as it was 4 figures.

Pictures below, please PM for details.

Cheers,
Steve

S2h 15'0....

Beautiful rod; you have incorporated some great design mods to the handles.
Have you priced shipping to the US/Canada yet???

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom,

I'd do what I did for another member on here: I'd go halves on the shipping via Interparcel Express Standard, working out to be about £17 ( $29USD or $31CAD ) asuming it was a 120x12x12 2kg parcel.

Cheers,
Steve

Just to add some experience from someone who's received rods from the UK shipped to me in Canada...

It actually comes faster than from the US! For some reason things from the UK get handled in an expedient manner. I suppose customs procedures are slightly different or perhaps volume is different and can be processed faster.

I've always had smooth transactions (even larger 15' 3 piece rods).

Good luck in the sale Steve.

Thanks Preston,

You're right, I've had cause to send rods and reels to Canada, and the time to arrive at the final destination, including passing through Customs has been fast, inside of a week.
I guess it's the US/CAN customs being heavy handed and ensuring that things don't get across the border without paying the appropriate excise. I visited my brother in Toronto years back and a day trip to Buffalo was a harrowing ordeal on our way back, almost being frisked in the process, going through my passport with a great deal of suspicion.
We have the same with US sourced goods to EU/UK, very little gets through these days without getting nailed for duty and vat.
I won't be too sad if it doesn't go, I just thought it deserves to be used rather than sit in a cupboard gathering dust.

Cheers,
Steve
