I've finally been able to sit down at the vise a bit since the Holidays are now past to experiment a bit.

As has been described in other posts, Great Lakes Steelhead seem to go bonkers for flashy flies. I normally fish this style of fly in it's original form, tied on a tube. After a friend of mine showed me some pics of Templedogs that he tied on shanks, I decided to try out a couple for myself.

This is tied on a 25mm HAP Classic Shank, utilizing silver fox and flashabou in the wing. I also decided to try a new material out on the market this year, Senyo's Aqua Veil. It is palmered over the body and helps to support the wings nicely.
