A hole in my heart that you could drive an 18 wheeler through the gap.

God how I miss Sandy my Yellow Lab; with me at 11 weeks old, passed just days under 11. Last days with him stuffed in a down sleeping bag with me next. He took damned good care of me, and his 'final' I was going to take 'best care' I could of him.

Put him 'down?' Not a chance in Hell; he was with me at mid-night, not so at 0030. Just held him and cried. Young men reading this: Old men do cry at the passing of an old/trusted/more than a few drinks/BBQ's, 'Things are really fuc ked up, what do you think?, 'My 15 year old Daughter is pregnant .. what the hell do I do now? (Easy: Love the Child with all your heart)

Etc.

Today, Craigslist and a 'lab mix.' Looked at the photo's, heart melted, and I'm corresponding with the owner. The 'clincher?' He and Mr. Doggie-Dog flaked out on the couch watching TV. With Sandy (and Husky) it was the same thing. Go to bed but you'd better have the damned TV going-volume on low .. News channels of all things .. what the hell, why not?

I'm still vacuuming up dog hair ... this stuff must materialize out of the walls. A 'Forget Me Not?' A gentle nudge from God? Probably.

I will keep you posted but 'owner' (correspondence) sounds like a 'Straight Arrow.'

Sorry for the mini-rant but Here is where you can reach out in total trust. A good thing me thinks. Life is a Four letter word, as is 'fish.'

Great to hear Fred. One of my students brought their 10 week old puppy into the school yesterday morning. If it was not for my 5 month old daughter and the two delightfully crazy dogs I have now, i would have gone out and got a puppy.

All the best with the new fishing partner.

10 pounds (give or take) sleeping on your chest, nose under your chin. At about 25 'Mr. Doggie-Dog we need to adjust our sleeping habits and who sleeps where.'

My 'kids' are now in their 40's, and same with 'Bogie' a just showed up dog, on a super cold night. Verbal fights as to whose week it was to tuck in with the dog on 'your bed.' FINALLY got a 'dog calendar' and marker pens: 'This is your (daughter) week, that's his .. DO WE FULLY UNDERSTAND!' Wife 1.0 took exception and I cut right to the chase of '**** Off Woman, not your call.'

Fred - let me know when the deal is sealed regarding Fido, and I'll come over to take a picture or two to post.

Name the new friend contest? or do you already have something in mind?

In deed I do and my appoligies to the Board.

" ... Today at 08:12 AM. Reason: Fred knows why."

If I've EVER posted up something that would offend it was by total accident. But over several thousand posting something has to go amiss?

Dear God! Just looked at the posting count and I'm a tick short of ten thousand. Well I guess going back to over a decade on this version of SpeyPages, and being a 'Chatty Kathy,' ran that number up. 8>)

Hey I'll chat it up with you, it's just server space anyhow!:saevilw: And it sure beats endlessly debating about the superiority of ferrules over splices.

My favorite of the cute-dog-poster genre...

Nothing better than a dog to love Fred, I would have brought Boss over to meet you when I stopped by with Bob but Nancy had him hiking somewhere that day. He's right here at my feet while I write this and he says 'Do It'.

Just read/responded to a e-mail from Doggie-Dog's owner.

Our 'first meet' will be this Friday AM. First 'change' is it's not Mr. Doggie Dog, but Mizzzzzzz Doggie Dog. :D Pooch's name is 'Monkey,' there has to be an interesting back story as to the 'why.' :D:D:D:D

Right you are RJ, right you are.

So Sorry for your loss Fred he will always be in your heart. Every dog I have lost is still in mine. Hope you find a new good soul mate. Randy
Long line of Pooches with me on the river bank(s) and (to repeat myself) you'd better bring an extra sandwich, or a meat loaded Subway cut into quarters. With luck you may just get to eat your 'quarter' of a foot long ....

Best Fishing Dog I've ever had

I lost last Saturday to cancer. Glad her niece is still with me. My friend, the late Rusty Gates, quoted a friend of his--"...always have more than one dog, because you never know when you're going to lose one." It's tough, but we're getting through it. Glad you're finding a new dog to take care of you Fred.
