Hello. Yesterday I went fishing with my dad, Steelchromedome. First we went to a little creek that my dad hadn't been to in 13 year's. But after all the heat we had last summer, a lot of the creek had dried up, and there was only a few pools. We fished for about half an hour, then went to our local river. We went out on a rock and my dad helped me cast a single hander. We fished a 6'2" 2 weight rod. There were pink albert mayflies, golden stoneflies, caddis, and we saw one salmon fly. My dad tied on a pink albert emerger dry fly. We talked earlier about waiting to set the hook untill the fish takes the fly underwater. Well, there was a fish that came up twice to eat hatching mayflies. It took a couple tries to get the fly over the fish. Then my cast landed in the right spot. As the fly drifted I saw a splash and my fly went under. I waited a moment then set the hook and I felt tugging and realized the fish was on! I got very excited and my heart started racing. The fish tore line off the click and pawl reel and it made a buzzing noise as the fish ran down stream. After a fight that lasted a couple minutes I brought in a nice rainbow trout. I felt so excited my first trout on a dry fly.
