I recently got a JC cape for more traditional flies. Just a couple ties with JC including an akroyd botch (I forgot tail) , hairwing and another arkyord variant. I'm looking forward to the wonderful world of traditional spey flies, learning tips and techniques to even hope to compare to some of the great tiers on this site. Thanks for looking, Andrew

Andrew,

You really need to do yourself a favor and pick up some long-shank hooks for the dees. Any 6xl to 8xl streamer hook with a Limerick bend in #4 or larger will work just fine. Also, the #1.5 and #3/0 Alec Jackson Spey Hooks or the #1 McNeese Blue Heron Hook make good dee hooks (the Blue Heron is better because it has a longer shank). Dees just cry for the long-shank hook to not look crowded and busy.
