I've been browsing the forums for a little while and decided to stop in and say hello. I'm from West Michigan and my "home" waters are pretty much the Muskegon and Rogue since I'm about an hour away from each.
I also just got started tying classic patterns. My first attempt was a White Winged Akroyd and I followed that up with a double. They are first attempts, so feel free to give pointers!
Now thats what I call red carpet entry to pages! In style! Kinda hard to believe you on that "first" statement . Nice to see locals picking up on this craft! Welcome!
Welcome to the coolest section here on the Speypages
You introduced yourself in style , can't go wrong with displaying Ackroyds !!
These are great fishing flies and should serve you well.
Welcome to the forum, were neighbors. Your Akroyds are nice. Looks like BEP, and being neighbors I'm wondering where you got it ? Little smaller JC nails on the double maybe, nice tying.
Thanks for the welcome! They really are my first, but I definitely didn't get the right on the first go. I had to unwind/rewind the hackles and tinsel a bunch of times and went through about 4 sets of wing slips on each before they were anywhere close to correct.
I appreciate the feedback and I'll definitely keep those things in mind on my next round. I'll also get some shots of the wings from above.
Killer. is that goose? My only change would be fixing up your head a little better. Im sure with a little bit of work those could be half the size and neater but the rest is killer!
