A little trick I discovered a long time ago is to get a roll of vet wrap from the feed store and put a turn or 2 on the areas of your hand/fingers you're getting the line burn. It is a flexible fabric that sticks to itself, I use it to hold gauze on my horses legs when injured. I saw this stuff in a fishing catalog and they wanted like 6 bucks for a small thin roll, but you could get a lifetimes worth for the same money at the feed store (a REAL feed store that deals with livestock, not a pet store) for the same money. Just cut it into strips and keep it on an old empty tape roll. This stuff saved me from bad burns when big game fishing in Baja. It works.
