Been a while for me. This fly started out as Marty's Skagit Dance, but didn't end up quite so. Things were in pretty good shape up until the wing, at which time I realized I didn't have long enough winging material. Grrr.... This almost got the razor and still may but I'm sure it would still get an eat. On a positive note, I just burned a ton of estate sale primo goose shoulder and it came out excellent. ( yellow hackle ) anyhow, he's my first offering in a while.

Do you split the rachis on the goose? Great fly by the way.
I myself carefully peel, from the tip. For me it's about a 50/50 of getting two usable hackles, but at least the one. One will be quite fine, the other thicker. Thanks for the kind words, but this still looks all wrong to me. I may attempt to redo the wing somehow.
