in 1980, the only two handed rod was the GFF14010 14' 10wt (There was a 12footer, but it had a 6" removable fighting butt and not a real bottom grip.

This info was from a model list in the Fenwick book by Victor R. Johnson Jr.

It looked like even that model was dropped by 1982 at least it wasn't listed in their normal rod list.

it's a 14 footer, but I think its an earlier model (73-78) or a custom Jimmy Green special.

The first graphite rods on the market were Fenwicks designed by Jim Green in 1973. They were widely introduced to the public at the FFF Conclave in 1973 or 74 and were a great sensation. Not completely certain of the first graphite two-handers, but think it was Jim Green again, a few years later. I do know that he designed his first one for a woman, Ann Strobel, I think. She was a tournament caster, but a very small woman, so he built a longer rod, two handed to compensate for her lack of height and hand strength.
