Maybe this exchange/trade offer will interest you:

I am gauging interest, but am prepared to enter an agreement now, in a trade for two of my three Sharpes Bamboo Spliced Spey Rods for a Burkheimer 7/8 weight spey rod up to 14’1”. [I would prefer an earlier green three-piece rod]

As I have to undergo heart surgery in the next couple of months and as I am almost 76, have shoulder and elbow tendon troubles, I am unlikely to use these bamboo rods again. I have a few Burkheimer and Meiser rods, but they are too big for an early return to the river! They are:

1) 13’, 3 piece, 9 Weight Rod + spare tip in makers original bag along with the correct wooden splice protectors.

2) Another as 1) above, but lacking splice protectors and the spare tip is fractionally more than 1” short at the tip. The other tip is full length. Some original guides show rust-rash as they are chromed steel.

3) 14’ as rod 1), above, but 10 weight.

All three rods need very minor work to the guide tyings; I am offering them “as are” because I think that any new owner may well prefer to personalise the rods by changing the colour scheme, increase the guide size etc.

IN RETURN FOR YOUR CHOICE OF TWO RODS FROM THE 3 ABOVE I WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE a Burkheimer rod for 7 or 8 weight line in the 13’3” to 14’1” range.

These Sharpes Rods are all Impregnated Bamboo and the butt-caps all have some splitting but are secure and usable. [This butt-cap fault applies to virtually every one of the spliced rods I have ever seen! ] All sections of all rods are straight’

Otherwise no defects other than those mentioned. They have no bruises; hook digs or glue failure.
I will be receiving my camera back from service on Monday and will be able to send pictures on request.

:whoa: EDIT:
I also have a couple of Hardy DTF lines which I will throw in as these rods were designed for such lines!:)

PLEASE MAKE CONTACT BY PM or EMAIL

Optional alternative for Burkie wanted in trade

Had a rethink!

I would include all three rods and a couple of decent Hardys Double taper lines (which are those really nice 40 yard pale blue floaters and a 9 weight sink-tip - again Hardys).

For this 'bundle' I would want one of the Burkies mentioned in the original post but in really nice condition.

Please send PM if of interest; pictures of actual rod appreciated. I too can send pics.

Thanks for looking.
