so this is my first double ackroyd on a hook this big, it was a fun experiment! thanks all for looking

Way to think outside the box with those wings!

Honestly, I don't approve the hook though...

Tied thin and sparse, well done !!
My only comment would be shorten up on the JC nails. Treat each segment as the proportion of a separate flee.
Nice addition of the ostrich herl on the head and at the start of the "black" half.

Its too bendy for this style of fly IMHO. Its probably more suitable for a full dressed married wing fly. On the other hand not many dee suitable hooks are out there... :mad:

This hook seems to be a Partridge code "N", which is a low water, straight shank, extra long, medium weight iron. It has a Dublin bend which probably throwing you off. The bend does however end half way between the barb and hook point.

I know what you mean about finding suitable Dee irons ... slim selection now days. I'm stuck with old stock HE2's and Daiichi 2091's :eek:
