The Company "Kefparking" operates a fast, 24 hour disinfection service at Reykjavik Keflavik International Airport. You may have to wait for a few minutes.
Does anybody knows how long this takes as we have only 1 hour and 10 minutes for our connection to Akureyri in the north.

I would go to a local vet and have them treat your equipment before you go and have a letter from the vet for the authorities/custom officials. That way you are not stressed any delay or if there are others ahead of you (remember lots of anglers come up there in the summer) or no one is there when you come could all cause you to miss flight or cause problem. I have never used this service or others as I keep my fishing equipment up there to avoid this. I have heard of anglers complaining as they totally dunk their equipment and sometimes they get it back totally wet. Make sure your flight to Akureyri leaves from Keflavik as the domestic airport is in Reykjavik (they are located about an hour apart.) Keflavik is the International Airport and Reykjavik is the Domestic Airport, in recent years they have added some domestic flights from Keflavik but just a few.

I've gone the vet route and it is way more efficient than waiting 'til you arrive in Iceland, especially if you're making a connection.

One of the great moments of our Kjarra trip was being behind another angler and his wife on arrival to hear the wife being told she can pass through customs but her husband had to be sterilized. I thought she was going to have a heart attack - and he didn't look pleased either!

Lol!!
But when I go on a fishing trip I never take my wife (or somebody else's wife) with me. That's men only time!

I take the vet route, I hate stress!! Thanx guys!

I don't know where you are but I used a company by the name of Tackle Disinfection Services in London (who are associated with, but maybe not connected to Fly Fisher Group).
It is the only company who are legally permitted to give a certificate for disinfection who are not a vet.
Curiously, the trouble with the vet route is that not many vets will know which treatment to use (this is what I have read on other threads about this).
When I went through Keflavik last August, I was not approached at all to provide my certificate.
As I carried my JM Reid bamboo rods and expensive Noel reels, I was not keen on having them dunked in unknown solutions.

Disinfection

Okay, but I live in Amsterdam and we have a direct flight to Iceland, so a stop-over in London is out of the question.
But I found this page: http://www.mast.is/english/frontpage/import-export/import/fishingequipment/ and downloaded the certificate.
So now I'm searching for a Dutch vet who understand my problem :Eyecrazy: Most of them only threat cats and dogs!
It seems that horse people who take their own gear also need to have that disinfected for Iceland, so I need a horse vet!!

I think Vet Bastiaanse in Prinsenbeek(Breda) "de Baronie"does horses and a lot of other strange animals so you might call him if he is interested and if it's in your region.
