Will be attending the Derek Brown class in Sept. and have an opportunity to fish a afternoon prior to the class. Will be bringing 3 rods - 12, 14, & 15 footer. 8 & 10weights. Will probably use the 12' the most.

Looking for some info on fly patterns that would work during this time frame.

Also, at this time period mostly fish w/floating or sink tip lines. Have never fished the Deschutes before and any other pointers would be nice.

Thanks, Hansen

Flies/technique

Hansen,

Green but skunk, Macks canyon, freight train, purple peril, and something small and buggy.

Use a floating line when the sun is off the water and a polyleader or sink tip during the day.

Mail the Flyfishing Shop, Mark spends 40+ days a year guiding the Deschutes and is a forum sponsor.

You mentioned you were attending the Derek Brown Class...well give the boys in Tigard a call (I am sure you know the number...1-800-442-4359) and ask for Joel or Randy and they can give you some excellent pointers!!
