Had a chance to try out the DBF 7/8 on the Deschutes yesterday. I tried to keep matters simple, and to that end, just hung a RIO Accelerator on the reel. I discovered that one does have to wait for the rod. Too much water 'stick' is no good; not enough 'stick' is not too bad. It does get the line out there whan all things are timed well. I was getting into casting moreso that fishing. Wind handling works best with a tail-wind to the dierction the fly is going, but that was not always the case. All in all, I am extremely please with it and do see a diffference between it and a GL3 8/9 (more traditional action). If you have a chance to try one, do it. ED
