So I got back at the vise after the holiday bustle and here's what happened. It's tied on an a.j. 1&1/2 steelhead iron. The bottom hackle is purple schlappen, the underwing is g. pheasant tippets, flashabou, and arctic fox, the top hackle is guinea, and a goose shoulder wing. Is it too much? I would love any a dv ice and critisms. I feel I'm getting close to somehing here..

Yes, I think you got the proportions great. If you find it doesn't sink as fast as you want, strip one side of the hackle before wrapping and it will be half as full. try not to crowd the head quite so much and you are golden. nice colors!

Your fly is balanced and should swim true. A little over dressed for me but photos do make things look fat. Good tying.
