Somehow I lost my Geoff Wilson book convering this very subject (new one ordered) but I got some saltwater stuff to rig up and was wondering what the preffered connection knots are.

Wilson's "Guide to Rigging Braid, Dacron and Gelspun Lines" does not address specifically dacron to gelspun. However for GSP to GSP he recommends 40 turn biminis loop to loop with ten fold cat's paw.

My opinion is loop to loop will work well with GSP/dacron, using multiple passes through a loop to spread the load [cat's paw].

Sounds like you're after bigguns!

about a 20 turn albright finished with a lock knot and a quick little drop of zap-a-gap.

i find that cortland's splicing needle makes the knot ten times easier and much cleaner then if i was to do it with my hands.

after years of doing it like this, i have yet to have someone come back with stories of a broken knot.

Ahh thanks spark. Since I am still rebelling against learning a bimini I tried the albright and it seems strong. I could not break it.
