Artificial fly Fishing bait Bait Fishing lure Spoon lure

I've been messing around lately trying to find a way of tying larger Steelhead flies. I started to used "Coat Hangers" to tie some of my flies, and what is great is I can tie any size I want. Has anyone else used coat hangers to tie their flies?

Coat hangers

sound like they would get too heavy in a hurry. I think you will find tube flies to give you the length without the problems associated with hangers, like attaching a hook.

Here is a "Coat Hanger Spey", before the remaining hanger on the butt section has been removed. I try to use the lightest coat hanger available to me.

The fly is no different to cast than any other as long as the appropriate grain line is used for the size of Spey you have tied.
