Speycurious,I found this thread when looking for info on my new rod, and would like some fresh opinions.
I'm currently casting a CND BS 6/7/8 with a 450 Skagit and various tips. I've gotten used to the CND and Skagit feel, and am thinking I should stick with that strategy for my new rod as well, at least to start.
The Steelhead Specialist will be my stick for springs, chum, and winter steel on bigger rivers. Sinktips for me usually range up to 12' of T-14, with many shorter and lighter. I've seen that some casters like the CND 9/10 GPS (779 grains) for this rod, but also that the CND website suggests the GPS Skagit @ 650grains as a short head line.
In researching the rod, some like considerably lighter lines and some heavier. This rod seems to be a great allround performer, and many have said it performs well with a variety of lines.
Anyone currently using a Skagit on this rod? Any other favorites in the short head genre?
