First off I would like to thank Juro for getting me a couple of rods to take for a test drive. I can say without a doubt that these are some of the nicest rods I have ever had my hands on. The two rods I had the pleasure to try were the custom 13' 7/8 and the 13' 8/9. Both rods were an absolute dream to cast and I would highly recomend anyone looking for a rod to definitely check these out. Once I got the feel for how these rods load it was alomost effortless to cast these rods. I have finally found the 7/8 wt that I am looking for to use here in the GL region. Thanks again for the test drive. Now if you can hook me up with that Porsche I will be all set. Good Luck and Tight Lines!

I hope Nobuo (head honcho of our sponsor companyCND Spey Rods) is reading this, because the credit is all his for these true-to-spey rod designs. I'm just the caddy for the master ;)

Truthfully, at the risk of sounding like a hair club commercial, I don't just promote the rods - I really love casting and fishing with them. The same metaphor applies more appropriately for Nobuo, he's not only the president of the company, he fishes these rods around the world with a passion for spey.

Thanks for the kind words! I can't help you with the porche but I have a tan minivan I could let go for a song... :)

Since his return from the Dee I have not had the chance to ask this directly, but I believe his focus is to concentrate on introduction of finished rods into North America then he will consider other activities after that.

The blanks for the CND Specialist Spey rods are built with an exclusive aerospace graphite material and process that allows almost a third of the resin content to be eliminated while delivering superior lightweight and power. This is immediately evident when you pick up the 16'7" Thompson Specialist Spey rod for instance. I am not sure what the policy will be for blanks of this caliber but other models might become available sooner - I will refrain until I find out. What I do know is that blanks are not the current focus for CND.

CND Rods are designed by Nobuo Nodera (Custom Nobuo Design) in Japan - the tapers, materials, right down to the mandrel.

Nobuo is the renown rod designer who developed a broad spectrum of fishing rods over the last few decades. His Spey rod expertise was fine tuned while living in Scotland for nearly 10 years designing rods for Daiwa. Clearly, Spey rods are his passion and expertise.

Now back in Japan, Nobuo designs Spey rods for the international marketplace under his own trademark, CND. Although some of the exclusive materials can only be obtained in Japan, he maintains manufacturing operations in various locations within Asia in order to provide highest performance at an incredible price point, as many domestic rod makers are doing today. You'd be surprised how many upper-echalon rod makers use overseas manufacturing facilities today, and that trend is growing every day.

The lifetime warranty service is run in North America domestically to ensure inexpensive shipping, fast turn-around, and most reasonable fees for repairs not covered by warranty.

As we grow, CND North America will continue to build the domestic operation on behalf of CND Japan to provide premium products at great prices, service excellence, and new designs suited to the needs of the hardcore angler. Thanks for your help in making this dream possible!

I had the great honor to host Nobuo on the Dee two weeks ago. He is a true gentleman man with a casting stroke yet to be beaten. He handled the + 300' Speydriver line with the same ease as I do with my 35 feet shooting heads. Amazing. We clocked him for a good 50 meters....

His rods are awesome and I will get back with a full review after returning form Russia on June 21. On the Dee the water was too low for efficient use of 16-17' rods and heavy lines. As I am a "fish-aholic" rather than a casting nut I never used the CND ones in earnest there. My old Sage 15' 8-weight and a 10 feet 7 weight caught the fish I had.

Well I have to get back to the TV - Sweden plays Canada in the WC final and it looks GOOD!!
